Some roots from slighty pot-bound a red beetroot here, just prior to re-planting. They really are pink all the way through.

125: A Line of Clementines

This one was quite heavily post-processed, but it just wasn't very interesting au naturel.
I don't usually like to mess with my images; I prefer to take naturalistic shots that look good as they are, but sometimes there's no substitute for tweaking if you want a certain look.
I do happen to like this photo quite a lot now. The adjustments definitely add a new dimension to the image rather than cover up any inadequacies. The source RAW was the best of the series, and properly exposed (so I started off with a solid image.)

Of course post-processing should not be used as an excuse to take just any old crappy photo. That's like the photographic equivalent of auto-tuning a bad singer!

091: It's A Robot!

A dirty little pink plastic robot pig with flashing blue LEDs for eyes. It even oinked when a button on its head was pressed. Ah, the horror. Sort of amusing, though.
It was destroyed by being accidentally caught in a door - off popped its little hollow head and out spilled its circuited innards. It somehow reminds me of Westworld, Saturn 3 and The Terminator all at once... I shall posthumously name him Yul Hector Schwartzenegger.

055: Sweet Wrappers

Such bright colours. This one was another straight from the camera, another first shot got just right.
Close scrutiny reveals a curious fact: The wrappers are not solid colour [as I imagined,] but printed with their particular colour tint, plus the white text. Actually, this detail is difficult to make out in the 1600-pixel version here, but the full 3872-pixel original definitely shows the printed pattern of colour.

Settings were f/5.6, 1/180 sec, ISO 100, 50mm M42, 19mm extension, low flash, white reflector. The chocolates were arranged in an eggbox, four in each of the six dips. A simple and effective setup. The background blobs are a bit hexagonal, but that's fine by me.

048: Glass Blobs

f/11, 1/180 sec, ISO 200, 50mm M42, 11mm extension, low flash, overhead reflector.
Whatever these things are, I'm sure somebody has a name for them. As far as I'm concerned, they're glass blobs - purely decorative oddities. The green ones have a slightly metallic translucent finish while the pink ones have a much duller and thicker coating.

That white glow in the highlights is the white reflector I placed in front of the flash, angled down toward the pebble-blobs. The first shot clearly showed my hand in the reflections, so that was binned.

027: Plastic Orc

More an objective study than a composition, this small plastic orc stands proudly on the pink ground, his weapon glistening with the blood of his enemies... Does he like pink? Who knows. I thought it worked in an unusual way.
The figure concerned is from an old HeroQuest set that I painted [some] of the figures. Maybe I'll get round to painting some more of them. I think I'll have to buy a size 000 brush first, as I want them to turn out a little better than this one. (you can really see all the imperfections when looking this closely.) I like very much how I did the bloodstain and the drybrushed areas, but it's not all neat, especially around the gloss yellow. Better stick to matt finishes in future.
I took this at f/16 on an old Super-Takumar 50mm f/2 lens (with an 8mm extension ring) and all other settings as usual. This lens seems to give some dodgy results exposure-wise, but I like using it occasionally.
This is only one half of a picture of two similar figures, but I cropped it as I thought just the one looked better. I also removed some dust spots. I'm not very happy with the shadow, but I don't think I could have improved it much. Also the background has a nice gradation to it.
